It is a mobile, wireless, thin-client networking kit that has computer and networking hardware and software stored in a trailer, pre configured so it can be deployed quickly at an incident. The MIMIT kits are designed to deploy to an incident and stay there, supporting the incident from beginning to end. The components are standardized and have been configured to meet the needs of incident management teams. The model will provide a paradigm shift over the current system in which each incident management team maintains their own IT equipment, sets it up themselves, and packs it up when they transition out of the incident. And then the process starts anew as the next team brings in their own equipment.
